how it works
The typical tutoring session is an hour long, and most students meet at least once a week. There is no need to commit for the entire school year. I work on a month-to-month basis. You may end tutoring services at the end of a month with a two-week notice.
Please realize there are limited time slots during the school year. If I do not have an opening in my schedule initially, I will add your child to my waiting list.
where I work
During the school year, I primarily work in the Oak Grove neighborhood in Dekalb County. The tutoring sessions can take place at your house, a local coffee shop or library. Most of the students that I tutor attend these intown Atlanta schools:
Tutoring sessions are prepaid by the month for the entire month. Payment is due by the first session of each month. The monthly invoice will be sent by e-mail prior to the due date. I accept payment by cash and check. Contact me to inquire about hourly rates and availability.
Because there are limited time slots each day, and sessions are reserved exclusively for each student, attendance is expected. Think of my services as a monthly subscription, where you are committing to and reserving recurring time slots.
If you have a scheduling conflict, notify me at least 48 hours before the session. Cancellations within 48 hours of the session are billed at the full rate. Additionally, the session will not be eligible for rescheduling. I do not offer refunds.
The more advance notice given, the better your chances of rescheduling a session. While I can usually find a time to reschedule, it is not always possible. In those cases, you will be expected to pay in full for the missed session. The make-up session must occur within one week of the cancelled session.
If the session cannot be rescheduled, payment will not be refunded. Lessons cancelled by me will either be rescheduled or the fee will be credited to the next invoice.
If your child is sick or you have an emergency, I will do everything possible to reschedule your session within a one week period, but the session will not be refunded.
You are not expected to meet on school holidays.
termination of services
Tutoring commitments are on a month-to-month basis, so there is no need to commit to the entire school year. It will be assumed that you are continuing and your time slot will be reserved for you until you give me notification to terminate. If tutoring services need to be terminated at any time throughout the school year, a two-week notice is required.
Tutoring sessions will still go on even if schools are closed for inclement weather, unless I am unable to drive to the session location. If this is the case, I will notify you the day of the session. Lessons cancelled by me will either be rescheduled or credited to the following invoice.
